Victory city

Victory, the city of the future?
I don't think so...
During the last class we had to visit a website that talk about Victory City, a project that present us like the city of the future, supposedly the city of our dreams.
Basically treats it about a group of mega buildings surrounded for the countryside, with all services that a city needs.
The problem is that absolutely everything is dominated by the unique private company property of Orville Simpson, the creator of Victory City. Suspect don't you think?
The thing becomes worse when we realized that there exists only one college, only one diary, only one university, only one bank... sounds like dictatorship.
Personally I would feel like in an huge mall. Where are the public spaces?
In addition, the city will use the same energy system, and this is one of the most important problems of our cities and industries. Victory not include solar or wind energy. To include that kind of energies makes of a city a city with vision of future.

I don't know who is my favourite designer

The truth is that I don't know yet who is my favourite designer.
Maybe is Ezio Manzini or Enzo Mari, both italians but I still don't decide it.

I do not share the idea of the designers rockstars like Philippe Starck. How can something so insignificant as a coat hanger to cost almost three millions of pesos?
In my opinion is much more prominent the work of hundreds of anonymous designers who day after day influence with their work our daily lives as those who design the packings of the products that we use, which design our clothes, the shoes, our electronic devices and many other objects that surround us and modify our lives.
That's industrial design, a tool that helps to the development of a country and for this reason must be for all the people and not only for some few ones.

I love my pendrive, but not so much...

My favourite object is my pendrive...
I admit that I would like to have an Ipod nano, it would be like my fetish object but like I don't have it yet I depend completely on my pendrive...
The other day I lost my pendrive in the "Pecera", the room of PC, and it was horrible, I passed oll day worried and thinking in what was going to do without it, only then I realized the important thing that was for me.
The first time that I used it was when I began with the university, when I was "mechona", before it, when I was going to the college, I only used diskets ........ no comments.
How I needed something more reliable for my works, I bought myself a pendrive. It serves me only to guard information and doesn't have great capacity but definitively I love it. I take it with me and use it every day, in my pendrive I have my works of the university and many other things that are important for me, as photos or music. In addition it's small and doesn't occupy very much space. Definitively my life would change if I didn't have it, perhaps can someone of this career live without pendrive? I don't believe it.
OK, but my pendrive is not so nice better I put a photo of an ipod, we meet ….

My favourites songs...

Which it’s my favourite song?
I don’t know if I can choose only one, it’s so difficult!,
but I’ll try.
Ok, immediately I think in Postal Service and all their songs, but more specifically in Such Great Heights and the beautiful Against All Odds, a cover of Phil Collins.
I believe that I like these songs because their make me feel happy, I don’t know,
maybe it’s just the music, but the truth is, that after listening to Postal Service always I feel well!

But I cannot forget other songs as the fantastic Space Oddity or Starman of David Bowie and Across The Universe of the Beatles.
Also Do You Realized of Flaming Lips, and Someday of the Strokes; and a bit more Chilean... Un Amor Violento of Los Tres, Miño, Canción de Lejos y Las Cosas Que Cambié y Dejé Por Ti of The Bunkers, and Gracias A la Vida of the great Violeta Parra.
I love all these songs since they are an important part of the soundtrack of my life.

For my, more important than the lyrics, it´s the feeling that provokes a song or to which moment takes us.

Then, how I could choose?
Of all forms, here is the lyrics of the song Such Great Heights... Dedicated to all the classmates of the course of English.
Ok we meet...

Such Great Heights

I am thinking it's a sign that the freckles
In our eyes are mirror images and when
We kiss they're perfectly aligned
And I have to speculate that God himself
Did make us into corresponding shapes like
Puzzle pieces from the clay.

And true, it may seem like a stretch, but
Its thoughts like this that catch my troubled
Head when you're away when I am missing you to death
When you are out there on the road for
Several weeks of shows and when you scan
The radio, I hope this song will guide you home

They will see us waving from such great
Heights, 'come down now,' they'll say
But everything looks perfect from far away,
'come down now,' but we'll stay...

I tried my best to leave this all on your
Machine but the persistent beat it sounded
Thin upon listening
That frankly will not fly. you will hear
The shrillest highs and lowest lows with
The windows down when this is guiding you home

BBC website

During the last class we had to visit the BBC website dedicated to all the people that we are learning English.
I must admit that I had never visited it, not even knew that it existed, but on having seen it, immediately I realized that it was a page of great usefulness.

Inside the most prominent things are the news in English in which it’s possible to find a vocabulary for a bit more complicated sentences. Besides a community of people who want to learn English of all parts of the world.

Also there are prominent the parts of the quizzes and exams, besides the games, where we can learn and test more specific words.

In conclusion, it’s a totally advisable website.
